About Tom Rancour

Tom Rancour helps businesses improve their Culture, Processes and Systems (CPS) to achieve and sustain safety, health, environmental, and business continuity excellence. He has 30 years of diverse experience across multiple industries. He is an expert on strategy development and deployment, especially in helping executive leadership and management identify the ‘critical few’ actions they must take to drive functional excellence.

Tom has helped businesses implement effective SH&E management systems and solve a myriad of technical and organizational issues including safety vision and policy development, safety leadership training, defining and getting buy-in for SH&E responsibilities, business continuity planning and emergency preparedness, procedures development, risk assessment, contractor safety programs, injury and illness recordkeeping, and SH&E governance and auditing methods.

Prior to founding Rancour & Associates in 2004, Tom was Corporate Director, Safety and Environmental Operations for Honeywell International, Inc., Morristown NJ. During his 24 year career at Honeywell and its predecessor companies (AlliedSignal, Allied Chemical and Bendix Corporation) he held multiple SH&E positions with progressive leadership responsibilities. Tom has received several outstanding contributor awards throughout his corporate career. He has extensive experience in techniques for leadership, management and supervisory engagement, teamwork, six sigma, lean manufacturing and safety, health and environmental business integration.

Tom is a Board Certified Safety Professional (CSP) and Board Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH). He holds a Master of Public Health (MPH) degree in Environmental and Industrial Health from the University of Michigan's Rackham School of Public Health. He also holds a Master of Science (MS) and Bachelor of Science (BS) degrees in Biochemistry from Michigan State University and The University of Michigan. He is a member of the American Industrial Hygiene Association, American Board of Industrial Hygiene, Michigan Industrial Hygiene Association, and the American Society of Safety Engineers. 

Tom has served as a Steering Committee Member for Organizational Resources Counselors-Worldwide’s Occupational Safety and Health Group, a national management consulting firm in Washington D.C. with over 150 Fortune 500 member companies. He is also affiliated with ORC-Worldwide’s Consulting Service.
