The Balance Safety Scorecard includes strategic trailing and leading safety metrics.  Trailing metrics typically include the number of total injuries, the number of injuries with days away from work, incidence rates and other important outcome measures.  Leading metrics are proactive measures of underlying safety processes.  Example leading metrics include the percentage of incident investigation recommendations completed on time, and the percentage of safety meetings held.  

Our Balanced Safety Scorecard Template is a form that you can easily customize with your trailing and leading metrics. The Template is pre-populated with 12 suggested trailing safety metrics and 16 leading safety metrics. Use some or all of the suggested metrics. You can also add your own metrics.

What is this and how can it help me?  The Personal Safety Action Plan Template is a tool to help translate broad organizational safety objectives into specific supporting actions by key personnel.   It is a method for increasing the transparency of the safety effort, gaining consensus. aligning efforts and setting safety accountabilities among business leaders, managers, supervisors and team leaders.

What are the product's key features?  Organizational safety objectives (such as "reduce injuries by 15%") are listed on the left-hand side of the template. For each organizational safety object, the individual completing the template indicates what action(s) they will take to help achieve the broad organizational objectives. For example, if ergonomic injuries are high in the department, the departmental supervisor would commit to one or more ergonomic improvements in their area.  The Template can be updated periodically (for example, on a quarterly basis) with the specific actions taken by the individual.  Overall percent completion for each item is also tracked .
